Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Land and Minerals Management

Steve Feldgus is the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Land and Minerals Management at the Department of the Interior, where he oversees the Bureau of Land Management, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, and the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement. He also served as the lead staffer for the Interagency Working Group on Mining Regulations, Laws, and Permitting. Prior to joining DOI in the Biden administration he was the Deputy Staff Director for the House Natural Resources Committee, specializing in energy and mining issues, and has also previously worked for the Bureau of Land Management, the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, and various offices during 16 years of working in Congress. He has a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Massachusetts and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin.
