Critical Minerals Forum
President
Rob Strayer is president of the Critical Minerals Forum – a consortium of miners, processors, end-users, and investors that facilitates dealmaking to increase reliable supply chains for critical minerals – which is funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). The Forum currently is focused on improving cost and price transparency as well as collaboration between governments and the private sector.
Rob has two decades of experience at the intersection of government policymaking and international business. He served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for technology diplomacy at the U.S. State Department, and led a successful global campaign to build more resilient digital infrastructure supply chains with dozens of U.S. partners. He also has helped major technology companies navigate geopolitical supply chain challenges as the executive vice president of global policy at the leading technology trade association. Earlier in his career, Rob was the general counsel for the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee. During that time, he advised senators on international economic policy, and led the drafting and successful passage of legislation that implemented significant new sanctions and other economic policy tools against U.S. adversaries. He previously practiced law at WilmerHale, and earned a J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School and a B.A. in economics from Denison University.
