Bruce Raw

GreenCape (City of Cape Town)

Chief Strategy Officer

GreenCape is a non-profit organisation that drives the widespread adoption of economically viable green economy solutions with a vision of creating a thriving prosperous Africa mobilised by the green economy. GreenCape works at the interface between business, government and academia in order to identify and remove barriers to economically viable green economy infrastructure solutions in developing countries, thereby catalysing their replicable and large-scale uptake to enable each country and its citizens to prosper.  GreenCape's core sectors are in Energy, Water and Waste, with cross cutting work in areas such as skills and finance.

As Chief Strategy Officer at GreenCape, Bruce is responsible for driving GreenCape’s strategic direction. This includes building and maintaining relationships with funders, building partnerships, identifying new opportunities and scaling existing opportunities.  In addition to his general strategic role, Bruce is also an expert in the energy field with a deep knowledge of local energy landscape, and works closely on GreenCape's energy programs.

Bruce holds undergraduate degrees in Computer Science, Computational and Applied Maths and Electrical Engineering and an MSc in Electrical Engineering with a focus on embedded systems. In 2019 Bruce was recognised by ESI-Africa as an African Energy and Power Elite.
