Global Chief Executive Officer and Chair
Yukio Kani is the Global CEO and Chair of JERA Co., Inc. He has been one of the founding members who led the establishment of JERA and keeps shaping the company’s business strategy directions toward ensuring a sustainable, stable, affordable energy supply. As Global CEO, Yukio focuses on the synergistic development of new low-carbon and renewable energy business models. He is especially concerned with building up JERA’s presence in the hydrogen and ammonia value chain and increasing the company’s green power generating capacity. Before the establishment of JERA in 2015, Yukio grew and rooted his career with Tokyo Electric Power, where he spent many years working on LNG procurement deals and equity investment around the world. In 2013, he was assigned as the President of TEPCO’s Australian upstream business, responsible for joint venture projects in Australia. In addition to the leadership role in JERA, Yukio also participated and continue to support the Asia Natural Gas & Energy Association Advisory Council; he was previously a senior member of the Ocean Renewable Energy Action Coalition. Yukio Kani is a Tokyo resident; he holds an MBA from Columbia Business School.
