Motaz Khawaji

Investment Director

Dr. Motaz Khawaji currently serves as an Investment Director with Aramco Ventures Sustainability Fund. Prior to his current role, Dr. Khawaji held various positions in R&D and Engineering at Saudi Aramco, Aramco Americas and SABIC. While at Saudi Aramco, Dr. Khawaji was instrumental in leading multiple R&D programs and projects in the area of fuels & chemicals, from early stage to piloting, deployment and commercialization. Dr. Khawaji holds 16 issued U.S. patents and has co-authored over 30 technical peer-reviewed papers. Dr. Khawaji is the recipient of several prestigious awards including the Saudi Aramco Corporate Innovation Award and the Dudley Newitt Prize by Imperial College London. Dr. Khawaji obtained a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University, a master’s degree from The University of Southern California and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London.
