Josh is co-founder and Chief Technical Officer at M2X Energy. M2X is a venture backed start-up, founded by Breakthrough Energy Ventures. M2X is commercializing a novel gas-to-liquids system to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions from methane flaring and venting. Previously, Josh was a founder at Rho AI, a data science company, where he led business operations. Rho AI was acquired by General Motors in 2021.
Josh received an MA in Climate & Society and PhD in Earth & Environmental Engineering from Columbia University, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering & Engineering Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University. Josh’s PhD research was funded by ARPA-E and served as the basis for M2X Energy’s technology. Josh is also an adjunct professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Columbia and serves as the faculty advisor to the University’s Formula SAE team.
Previously, Josh spent 15 years as a mechanical engineer in professional motorsports, where he held a range of engineering positions, culminating in a role as Crew Chief in NASCAR’s top series.
