Chief Exploration and Production Officer

Joelson Mendes, holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and a Master of Business Administration in Corporate Management. Joelson has extensive experience as an upstream executive, with multiple positions in Petrobras, since he joined the company in 1987. Has worked as field engineer in production assets, construction and assembly of platforms, and managed multiple assets and business units. From 2015 to 2021, Joelson took the lead role of all producing assets in Campos and Santos Basins as executive manager, followed by being appointed Petrobras’ Chief HSE officer, up to 1Q/2023, responsible for HSE guidelines and management system, continuous improvement, and environmental licensing process. Also, from 2022 onwards, joined OSRL (Oil Spill Response Limited) Board of Directors. Finally, as of April 2023, Joelson was named Petrobras’ Chief Exploration and Production Officer, responsible from all upstream business units within the company.
