Priya Zachariah

Former Chief Resilience & Sustainability Officer

Priya Zachariah is the former Chief Resilience and Sustainability Officer (CRSO) for the City of Houston and leads the Office of Resilience and Sustainability – a newly combined office in October 2021, which focuses on the implementation of Resilient Houston and Houston’s Climate Action Plan. She earned her bachelor’s in architecture from India and later her master’s degree in urban and regional planning from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). Priya has accumulated over twenty years of experience in design and project management, program development, land use, and transit planning and development. Her expertise includes having worked in south and southeast Asia and the Middle East before moving to the United States. She was recently recognized by the Houston Chapter of WTS as one of their 2022 Women on the Move, for her achievements in transportation. Priya is not a native Houstonian but she with her family have lived in Houston for over thirteen years now. They have immersed themselves with all Texas and Houston has to offer and now consider themselves to be proud Houstonians for life.
