Dr. Laura Lammers is the founder and CEO of Travertine Technologies, Inc. Travertine was founded in 2022 to commercialize a new electrochemical technology for sulfuric acid recycling with end-to-end carbon dioxide removal (CDR) and mineralization serving the mining and fertilizer industries. Dr. Lammers obtained a PhD in environmental geochemistry and served as an Assistant Professor at the University of California, Berkeley and Faculty Scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory prior to spinning out Travertine. She received several awards for her work including the Mineralogical Society of America Award in 2018 and the Department of Energy Early Career award in 2020. Travertine has received funding from the Grantham Environmental Trust, Clean Energy Ventures, and Bidra VC, and the US Department of Energy, as well as a pre-purchase of CDR credits from Frontier Climate fund. Travertine is headquartered in Boulder, Colorado and has a growing team of 15 full-time employees. Travertine was recently recognized as ACS Chemical & Engineering News' Top 10 Start-Ups to Watch for 2022, a 2023 BloombergNEF Pioneers Awardee, and a member of the 2023 RMI First Gigaton Captured cohort.
