Dr. Adam Lorenz is Chief Technology Officer at CubicPV where he leads the Company’s ongoing technical and scientific initiatives including co-development activities with key global partners. With a background in innovative silicon crystal growth for photovoltaics starting in 2005, he expanded scope to include tandem module development starting in 2018, which now incorporate metal halide perovskite top cells into high efficiency tandem products.
Prior to his work at Cubic, Adam spent several years in the PV industry developing silicon crystal growth equipment, which included silicon feedstock processing, and was a pioneer in establishing wafer-level laser marking traceability to enable factory-level continuous improvement. His doctoral thesis on “Transient Liquid-Phase Infiltration of a Powder-Metal Skeleton” and related work on materials development in the early days of 3D Printing has resulted in technology transfer to the additive manufacturing industry.
Adam earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University and his M.S. and PhD, both in Mechanical Engineering, from the Laboratory for Manufacturing and Productivity at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He holds >50 patents, is the author of numerous technical papers, and is a frequent contributor at technical PV conferences worldwide.
