Nasir Haji Darman, Chief Technology Officer of Group Research and Technology, Project Delivery and Technology Division, PETRONAS, steers and drives all technology activities in PETRONAS, group-wide. He joined PETRONAS in 1991 and has worked in many technical and managerial positions. Dr. Darman started his career as a Research Engineer in PETRONAS before moving on to assume various positions in PETRONAS offshore production units (OPUs). In his current position, Dr. Darman leads all technology projects and determines PETRONAS’ direction in its technology activities for both domestic and international assets. He has published many technical papers in national and international journals, especially in subsurface engineering. Dr. Darman received the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) 2010 Asia Pacific Regional Technical Award on Reservoir Description and Dynamics. He is currently the SPE Northern Asia Pacific Regional Director. He holds an Honorary Professorship from the Institute of Petroleum Engineering Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh as acknowledgment of his contribution to the society. Dr. Darman holds a BSc from Texas Tech University and a PhD from Heriot-Watt University, both in petroleum engineering.
