Michael Avery is the President and General Manager for Direct Air Capture (DAC), North America at 1PointFive. 1PointFive is a wholly owned subsidiary of Oxy that is focused on delivering CCUS solutions including Direct Air Capture (DAC), for hard-to-decarbonize industries. In this role, he is responsible for establishing strategic partnerships to commercialize and accelerate 1PointFive’s DAC program and oversees market development and sale of 1PointFive’s carbon dioxide removal solutions. In his 17 years with Oxy, Michael has been responsible for developing partnerships and strategic growth plans for businesses and assets on domestic and international projects. Michael joined Oxy in 2005 as a drilling engineer and spent 10 years working on projects in Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Oman before joining the domestic operations team. Most recently, he held the position of VP Business Development Onshore Resources and Carbon Management. Michael holds a BE in Mechanical Engineering from Stellenbosch University in South Africa and an MBA from Hult International Business School in Dubai. He serves as a board member for Carbon Engineering.
