MIT Energy Initiative

Research Program Manager

Joanna Moody is the Research Program Manager for MIT Energy Initiative's Mobility Systems Center and a lead researcher on one of the Center’s projects, which measures the "option value" (including convenience, flexibility, control, and status) that comes from owning a car separate from its use. More broadly, Joanna’s research uses econometrics and psychometrics in a structural equation modeling framework to explore the interactions among policies, perceptions, and individual travel decisions, with a particular focus on how new technologies and services may challenge the existing paradigm of privately-owned, gasoline-powered vehicle. Joanna holds Ph.D. (2019) and M.S. (2016) degrees in Transportation from MIT.
