Gerry Keefe


Head of Global Banking, Americas

Gerry Keefe joined HSBC as the Americas Head of Global Banking in January 2021. Mr. Keefe joined HSBC after 14 years at Citigroup, the last seven of which were spent in Asia. He was most recently the Global Head of Sales for Citi’s market-leading Treasury and Trade Solutions business, responsible for the full suite of working capital, cash management, trade finance and digitalized embedded finance / banking as a service solutions, globally. Prior to that, Mr. Keefe was based in Hong Kong with responsibility for Citi’s Asia-Pacific franchise in corporate banking, across corporate, financial institution, public sector and multinational subsidiary clients in 16 markets in Asia. Prior to Hong Kong, he was the Deputy President and Head of Corporate Banking, Japan. Mr. Keefe started his career in banking in Citi’s Capital Markets Origination business, where he was Citi’s Head of Global Securitised Products. Mr. Keefe leads client coverage for corporate, financial institution, financial sponsor, institutional investor and public sector clients across the Americas and oversees the regional capital markets and investment banking product teams, as well as the corporate banking and the liquidity and cash management businesses. He is also responsible for first line risk management, specifically credit, reputational and financial crime risk. In addition, Gerry chairs the regional Capital Allocation Committee. Mr. Keefe sits on the HSBC USA ExCo and the Global Banking ExCo. He is the Chair to the Banking Americas Executive Committee, Banking Americas Conduct & Culture Committee and the Banking NAM and LAM Risk Oversight Committees. He is also sits on the LAM Governance, HNAH Governance and Global Governance Committees. He is an executive sponsor for the 30% Club, providing mentorship for rising female talent, and sits on the board of A Better Chance, an organization founded in 1963 and committed to providing educational opportunities to underprivileged youth.
