Special Programs Producer for CERAWeek
Sue Lena Thompson is the Special Programs Producer for CERAWeek by IHS Markit. She is focused
on promoting diversity and inclusion, women’s advancement, and developing future talent in
the energy industry. Ms. Thompson is a member of the original CERA team from Cambridge, MA,
and has formed deep and productive relationships within the energy community. Her depth of
understanding and connections in the energy industry has bolstered her strategic vision, and she
is well known for her expertise in spearheading major research projects, building creative teams,
and developing innovative programming. Ms. Thompson has extensive experience in producing
widely acclaimed books, media, and events including the Pulitzer Prize–winning and best-selling
book The Prize by Daniel Yergin; two Emmy-nominated PBS television series: “The Prize: The Epic
Quest for Oil, Money and Power” and “Commanding Heights: The Battle for the World Economy”
by Daniel Yergin; a curated art exhibit on “The History of the Oil Industry” which traveled to New
York City, Houston, and Tulsa; and management of several annual programs at CERAWeek: Women
in Energy, Future Energy Leaders, and the Professional Development Program. Previous credits
include producer for a book on defense strategy at the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and
ongoing work with Massachusetts Institute of Technology as Member of the Carroll L. Wilson Annual
Fellowship Award Committee. She completed studies at Washington University, University of Texas,
Boston University, and Harvard Extension School.
