Ahmed Abdulla

Research Scientist

Ahmed Abdulla, Research Scientist, Center for Energy Research, University of California, San Diego, is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Engineering and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University. Dr. Abdulla’s research, on the interface of energy systems and public policy, leverages big data, optimization, and decision analysis to model the strategic development and deployment of energy technologies that decarbonize the energy system and increase its resiliency. His work has been supported by the US National Science Foundation, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, among others. Dr. Abdulla has published his work in leading journals, including Nature, Climate Change, and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences; his work has also been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg News, and the Los Angeles Times. Dr. Abdulla holds a BS from Princeton University and a PhD from Carnegie Mellon University.
