H.E. Madame Lelenta Hawa Baba Ba is Minister of Mines and Petroleum for the Republic of Mali. Previously, Mme Hawa Baba Ba served as the National Director of Geology and Mines and prior to that as Deputy National Director form June 2013 to May 2014. Her professional responsibilities have included Head of Section Studies, responsible for the management of Mali’s mining cadaster, or land register, at the level of the Studies and Legislation Division between March 2005 and July 2008. Prior to that, she was responsible for monitoring drilling operations and their impact on groundwater and energy resources. Mme. Hawa Baba Ba speaks both French and English. A geology engineer, she holds an engineering degree from the National School of Engineering (ENI) in Bamako, Mali, and she has trained at the Paris School of Mines in Fontainebleau on mining environment and mining administration.
