Energy Transition: Global perspectives

Wednesday, 3 March

7:30 am - 8:00 am (CST) / 03/mar/2021 01:30 pm - 03/mar/2021 02:00 pm
At the start of 2021, there seems to be a race to net zero. Rich OECD countries are at the front with many net-zero commitments by 2050. China has made a net-zero commitment by 2060. Many developing countries around the globe have the dual challenge to supply energy to meet the aspirations of its people while reducing emissions. The pace of transition around the world will be determined by geography, available technology, local policies, and consumer preferences. How will the energy transition unfold globally? What role will digital technologies play? Could countries leapfrog to low-carbon energy sources? What role will major energy companies around the world play to lead this transition?
