Canada's Energy Future

Wednesday, 9 March

7:30 am - 8:35 am (CST) / 09/mar/2022 01:30 pm - 09/mar/2022 02:35 pm
Canada is pursuing a novel Made in Canada approach to energy transition. This includes following multiple pathways—from large-scale deployment of carbon capture and storage (CCS) in the oil sands, to widespread electrification, fuel substitution, hydrogen, efficiency, and more. Its approach is sensitive to considering the diverse regional priorities and interests characteristic of Canada. As a major global energy producer and consumer, how does Canada balance stakeholder interests? How does Canada maintain its preeminent role in supplying global energy demand while meeting its leadership commitments to net zero emissions? What can be learned from Canada’s decarbonization journey?
