Senior Vice President, Electrification and Advanced Power Solutions
Rod Shurman is a senior vice president of Caterpillar Inc. with responsibility for the Electrification & Advanced Power Solutions Division. Rod will oversee the creation of modular and scalable advanced power sources and electrified drivetrain product lines. This division enables Caterpillar to meet the wide range of customer needs; collaborate with other divisions to define machine and Energy & Transportation architectures that accommodate multiple power sources and drivetrains; and identify Caterpillar’s role in the future value chain, including new services growth opportunities. Rod previously served as vice president of Caterpillar Oil & Gas and Marine Division with worldwide responsibility for business-to-business service offerings for the oil and gas and marine industries including Cat®, SPM Oil & Gas and MaK branded products. Rod joined Caterpillar in 1997 and has engineering, service and operations experience and was a product manager in large power systems and general manager of oil and gas. In addition, he has commercial experience, including direct customer engagement and dealer distribution capabilities. Prior to Caterpillar, Rod worked for Cummins with a focus on engineering and service experience. Rod graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He also completed Caterpillar’s flagship executive leadership program, Powering the Future, conducted by Stanford University specifically for Caterpillar leaders.
