Devin Mogler assumed the role of SVP Government Affairs, Sustainability and Communications in July of 2021, where he is responsible for all federal, state and local policy development and advocacy, in addition to supporting Green Plains’ ongoing ESG / sustainability initiatives and communicating them with internal and external stakeholders. He joined Green Plains in January of 2018 as VP Government Relations after three years as a Legislative Assistant to U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA), where he advised her on agricultural, biofuels and environmental policy. Prior to that he was SVP Operations for Farmers Cooperative Co. (now called Landus) in Iowa. He double-majored in economics and agricultural business at Iowa State University, and is still involved with his family’s fifth-generation farm in northwest Iowa.

    Emissions Reduction from Biofuels: Impact of new government policies

    Recent and upcoming changes to government policy in North America, Brazil and Europe all support greater use of biofuels as a tool to reduce carbon emissions. The U.S. Inflation Reduction Act, Canadian Clean Fuel Regulations, EU Fit-for-55 package and other programs incentivize the development of new technologies to increase the supply of low-carbon renewable fuels. What are these new policies and how are companies adjusting to this new era? Which biofuel sources and technologies can benefit most from these new dynamics?
