Vice President Exploration

Mohd Redhani bin Abdul Rahman is currently the Vice President Exploration, PETRONAS since April 2022. A familiar figure in exploration family, he spent more than half of his career in Exploration since joining Petronas back in 1997. A PETRONAS scholar with Bsc. with Honours in Geology from the University of Glasgow, Scotland, he joined PETRONAS as a Junior Geoscientist. During his early years in the company, he skillfully applied his geosciences knowledge and made notable contributions in Peninsular Malaysia, Sarawak Deepwater, Pakistan and Ethiopia. He was instrumental in the discovery of Mehar field and the development of Rehmat field in Pakistan in the early 2000s. In 2006, he executed the biggest seismic acquisition programme for the company in offshore Deepwater Sarawak which opened up North Luconia Deepwater exploration. As his career advances, he was constantly challenged to contribute in more demanding roles. He was assigned various management positions in Exploration e.g. Senior General Manager of Exploration International Ventures and more recently, Senior General Manager of Exploration Basin & Petroleum System. Through his leadership, PETRONAS successfully ventured into Mexico, Brazil, West Africa and Egypt by acquiring exploration blocks and acreages via bid rounds and farm-in exercises from 2018-2019. Throughout his 25 years with PETRONAS, his experience expanded to roles beyond exploration as well. Known for his perseverance in delivering desired results, he was entrusted to hold key positions such as Senior General Manager of Petroleum Resource Exploration in Petroleum Management Unit (now known as MPM) as well as Head and Iraq Country Chairman. Prior to his current role, in August 2020 he was appointed as Head of Portfolio, Intervention and Transition famously called “PIT crew” under the current President’s Office outfit. He successfully led PIT crew in completing an independent assessment on PETRONAS’ portfolio and developed strategic recommendations which resulted in portfolio balancing and assets divestment groupwide.
