Narayanan Sankar has over thirty years of international business experience with Siemens. He has extensive experience in Fleet electrification, Microgrids, Energy Storage and Electrical Power Systems. Clients rely on his expertise in the planning and design of microgrids and fleet electrification systems. Sankar currently serves as the Founder and CEO of Microgrid Labs, a technology and software company in the field of Fleet electrification. Microgrid Labs has been involved in the planning and design of several commercial scale Fleet electrification and Microgrid projects. Sankar is an electrical engineer by training and worked for SIEMENS for several years prior to venturing into entrepreneurship. Microgrid Labs(MGL) is a technology and software company specialiizing in electrification of fleets and microgrids. MGL provides a software platform EVopt for planning, design and operation of electric fleets. MGL’s EVopt application suite has two components—Planning and Control - each fulfilling different needs for customers. EVopt-Planner models the driving and charging process to determine the optimum size of the electric fleet, vehicle battery and charging/energy infrastructure capacity to minimize capital and operational costs. EVopt-Controller is a real-time optimization software that continuously optimizes its operation based on actual operating conditions to minimize energy costs and prevent overloading of the electrical network.EVopt is offered as software as a Service. MGL is an NSF funded venture and raised its seed round from priovate inevstors in 2021. It employs 15 people and has two operating locations (US and India). MGL has been involved in several fleet electrification projects in the US including King County Metro in Washington state where they are supporting the tarnsition planning for the electrificsation of 1500 buses. MGL has also supported fleet electrification proejcts in Europe as well as in India. MGL just released an upgraded version of its EVopt planning software for public use. EVopt software platform helps minimize the costs, uncertainty, and risks in fleet electrification.
