Ulises Hernández-Romano has a geology degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and a PhD from the Postgraduate Research Institute for Sedimentology, University of Reading, UK. He joined Pemex E&P in 1999 where he has been in different technical and managerial positions, including exploration geologist, multidisciplinary team leader for field development, exploration manager, exploration portfolio manager, and resources, reserves and associations vice president. Since October 2019 he is CEO of PMI Comercio Internacional, the subsidiary of Pemex in charge of trading crude oil and petroleum products in the international market.
