Senior Vice President and Head of the Mauritania-Senegal Business Unit

Mr. Niebruegge leads our Mauritania and Senegal business unit and oversees our involvement in the Tortue LNG project. He has more than 30 years of experience in the international oil and gas industry, working on projects in Africa, Asia and Europe. Before joining Kosmos in 2013, Mr. Niebruegge worked for Hess Corporation in a variety of commercial and financial roles, including serving as director of finance for global production. He earned a bachelor of business administration degree in accounting from the University of Oklahoma.

    Bringing Africa’s Gas to Global Markets

    Securing gas supplies has risen to the top of the global political and economic agenda, highlighting the importance of Africa’s role as a gas exporter, particularly to Europe. Conventional gas projects are progressing apace across Africa, including major deals across north Africa, megaprojects in Mozambique and Senegal/Mauritania, and the developments of major finds in countries that include Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa and Tanzania. Hydrogen projects are increasingly entering the investor spotlight. Africa also has the potential to generate carbon-offset credits from emissions reductions. How large are the markets for these diverse ways of monetizing gas, what is driving them, and where will the next opportunities be found?
