A Fellow of both the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE) and the Canadian Institute of Mining (CIM), and Petroleum, Dr. Asgarpour has over 35 years of diversified technical, business, and operations experience in the oil and gas industry as: • President & CEO of Petroleum Technology Alliance Canada (PTAC) and President-Elect for the Canadian Academy of Engineering • Business leader of Oil Sands Development for Alberta Department of Energy • Director of Corporate Strategic Planning, Director of Exploitation and Chief Engineer for Gulf Canada Resources Limited, and Chief Operating Officers for Canadian 88 Energy. He graduated from Rice University with a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering and completed the Executive Management Program at Western Business School, the University of Western Ontario, and the Leadership Program at Yale School of Management, Yale University. He has led PTAC’s consortia in developing numerous technologies that currently have the collective technology capacity to reduce methane emissions from the oil and gas activities by 30%. He has published over 40 articles in reputable Canadian and American technology and business journals, in the areas of reservoir engineering, production engineering, enhanced oil recovery, horizontal drilling technology, risk analysis, reserves estimation, economic evaluation, statistical analyses, heat transfer, solar energy, and nuclear technology. He has received The PSoc's Lifetime Achievement Award, the CIM Distinguished Service Award, in recognition of a lifetime of commitment, and excellence in promoting, developing, and forwarding Canada’s resource industry, and the CIM Fellowship Award, for outstanding contributions to the Canadian minerals industry.
