Richard started his career in 1997 in the technology industry. His oil and gas experience began in 2005, running an oil field services company during the Barnett Shale development in North Texas. From 2009 to 2020, Richard lived and worked in Africa and the Middle East, servicing the drilling industry. In 2020 he returned to the US as the COO of a petroleum operator using natural gas to power a Bitcoin mining operation. That began his involvement in blockchain technology and its uses in the traditional petroleum sector. He has since developed technology focused on using blockchain to solve emissions disclosure issues the industry faces.
