Chief Executive Officer

Pablo holds the position of Chief Executive Officer & Director since July 2022. He was Vice President of Unconventional Upstream since May 2020. He first joined YPF in 1998 as a Trainee in Rincón de los Sauces, and then took on several responsibilities such as Supervisor and Production Engineer in several fields both in Neuquén and Mendoza. He also served as Plant Manager in El Portón, Asset Manager in Cañadón Seco in Santa Cruz, Business Unit Manager in the southern Mendoza region, Unconventional Operations Manager in Neuquén in charge of the Loma Campana Shale Oil Project. Prior to being appointed Unconventional Upstream Vice President in YPF, he was responsible for leading the development of the Fortín de Piedra shale gas field, managed by the Techint Group, from 2017 through 2020. He holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Universidad Tecnológica Nacional.

    The war in Ukraine opens a unique window of opportunity for Latin America gas and comes when markets are in varying stages of liberalization, complicating matters. Securing and diversifying gas supplies is a priority for leading global gas importers—Mexico, given its proximity and connectivity to abundant, low-cost U.S. gas, and Argentina with its significant Vaca Muerta gas resource base—can potentially play a key role. Meanwhile, Brazil’s continued gas market “deverticalization” combined with enormous pre-salt reserves under development are providing renewed growth opportunitiesfor the domestic gas industry. What conditions are necessary to encourage the massive investments needed in infrastructure, gas resource development and demand-side expansion? What are the roles of the private sector, the NOCs and governments?
