Luc Huyse


Manager, Operations & Facilities for Chevron Technology Ventures

Luc Huyse manages the Operations and Facilities Technical Team for Chevron Technology Ventures. He is an experienced technology developer and R&D portfolio manager with a proven track record of delivering value. Luc joined Chevron in 2008 and has held several roles including pipeline and integrity management analytics subject matter expert (he holds patents for three inventions in this field), technology qualification leader, root cause failure analytics, and technical authorities. In 2017, Luc stood up Chevron’s Facilities and Operations Support Center and championed FE Digital efforts with a focus on value generation for Business Units through digital transformation and improved monitoring of operating equipment performance and process optimization. In 2019, Luc became the FE R&D Portfolio Manager. Luc has served in technical committee leader roles for ASCE, PRCI, API and IOGP. He served on the American Society of Mechanical Engineers B31.8 Pipeline Code Committee and currently serves on the board of the Subsea Systems Institute in Houston. Luc holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. Civil Engineering, both from University of Calgary, and a Bachelor of Applied Science degree from KU Leuven in Belgium. Prior to joining Chevron, Luc was responsible for the design of structural repairs of historical buildings in Europe before joining NASA Langley in Virginia (1999) and Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio (2001). His contributions to the return-to-flight mission following the loss of Columbia Space Shuttle (2003) were recognized by a NASA Group Achievement Award. He also received an R&D 100 Award for the co-development of industry-leading probabilistic assessment software.
