Executive Vice President & Group Chief Financial Officer

Liza Mustapha was appointed Executive Vice President & Group Chief Financial Officer of PETRONAS on 1st June 2021. She began her career as a junior executive 28 years ago in the finance department of PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd, the exploration and production subsidiary of PETRONAS. In the ensuing years, she held various positions within the PETRONAS Group which includes Chief Financial Officer of PETRONAS Gas Berhad, a gas infrastructure and utilities company and Senior General Manager of PETRONAS Group Treasury where she led the implementation of centralised treasury management for PETRONAS Group. Thereafter she took on the role of Chief Financial Officer for the Upstream Business, which encompassed Exploration and Production, LNG Liquefaction and LNG Marketing & Trading. In addition, she spearheaded the setting up of the PETRONAS Reserves Group (PRG), an independent unit responsible for reserves assurance and responsible for Upstream Business ICT and Risk Management. In July 2017, Liza was subsequently appointed as PETRONAS' first Group Financial Controller, heading the newly set up financial reporting and governance Center of Excellence – a key milestone in PETRONAS Group’s Finance Transformation Journey with the aim of strengthening finance roles as key partner to the business value chain, covering both statutory and management reporting of more than 100 legal entities as well as the financial governance and assurance of close to 300 legal entities groupwide. Prior to assuming her current position, she also took on the role of PETRONAS Vice President of Group Procurement. Liza is currently a board member of PETRONAS and also sits on the boards of two listed subsidiaries within the PETRONAS Group namely MISC Berhad, the shipping arm of PETRONAS and KLCC Property Holdings Berhad, the property investment arm of PETRONAS. Liza is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (“FCCA”) and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, majoring in Accounting and Finance from The London School of Economics, UK. She also attended the Advance Management Programme at The Harvard Business School.
