Lisa Pearl is a managing director with the Gas, Power and Climate Solutions team with S&P Global, Commodity Insights. She currently leads the Global Power and Renewables Integrated Research team. Her expertise includes supply and demand strategies, market opportunity discovery, and scenario planning. Ms. Pearl has contributed to various Multiclient Studies regarding Southeast Asia, China, Brazil and Mexico. Previously, she led the Mexico energy teams in Mexico City and the Southern Cone energy teams in Rio de Janeiro. Ms. Pearl holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Oregon and a Master of Arts from Boston University, United States.

In reality, last year’s energy supply crisis bolstered renewable energy globally—the cheapest source of new power generation—and many power sector policies and investments increasingly brought energy security and the energy transition together. As the transition accelerates, questions surrounding reliability, resilience, supply chains, infrastructure, investment and overall affordability quickly come into play. How synergistic is energy security and transition in the power sector? Will the short-term focus on energy security continue in the long run? What are the challenges to the energy transition? How will markets react?
