Dr. Laura Lammers is the founder and CEO of Travertine Technologies, Inc. Travertine was founded in 2022 to scale-up a new electrochemical technology for carbon dioxide removal (CDR) and mineralization serving extractive industries. Dr. Lammers obtained a PhD in environmental geochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley in 2012 and conducted postdoctoral research at Stanford University. She served as an Assistant Professor in the Environmental Science, Policy, and Management department at the University of California, Berkeley as well as Faculty Scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Her research has focused on carbonate mineralization and selective critical element separations, for which she received the Mineralogical Society of America Award in 2018 and a Department of Energy Early Career Program award in 2020. Since its founding in 2022, Travertine has raised more than $3.1M in seed funding led by the Grantham Environmental Trust and Clean Energy Ventures, $2M in grant funding from the US Department of Energy ARPA-e MINER program, and a pre-purchase of CDR credits from the Stripe Climate/Frontier fund. Travertine is headquartered in Boulder, CO and has grown to 8 full-time employees. Travertine was recently recognized as Chemical & Engineering News' Top 10 Start-Ups to Watch for 2022.
