Senior Director, Power & Renewables

Lara Dong, Senior Director, S&P Global, leads  Greater China Power & Renewables research and is a member of the Asia’s research and consulting team. Based in Beijing, Ms. Dong focuses on Greater China’s power and renewable market fundamentals, key players across the value chain, and policy and market reform analysis. She joined S&P Global through its acquisition of IHS Markit. Prior to joining IHS Markit, Ms. Dong spent 8 years at Rio Tinto, most recently as Principal Advisor, working on commodity market fundamentals and generating China policy insights in coal resources and electricity procurement options for aluminum smelting. In her role at Rio Tinto, she was in charge of global coal price forecast and cross-commodity research on industrial, environmental, and state-owned enterprise reform policies. Earlier, Ms. Dong worked in Noble and BHP Billiton as Analysts with cross-commodity research responsibilities and in Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce as Debt Market Research Analyst. Ms. Dong holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Xiamen University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Toronto. She is a CFA charter holder.
