Opportunities in Geothermal Energy for Oil & Gas Producers

Even as environmental, social, and governance (ESG) pressures have driven many oil and gas companies to diversify away from hydrocarbons, demand for oil and gas is increasing, and US oil and gas companies have seen sharp increases in market capitalization. The oil and gas industry arguably employs the world’s premier engineering and technology capacity and ability to execute at scale to accelerate emissions reductions. What role should the governments of oil and gas producers play to meet short-term market demand and finance the energy transition? Can the oil and gas industry be the financial driver for energy and economic diversification?
