Malta | Pumped Thermal Energy Storage for Deep-grid Decarbonization

    Presentation Innovation & Technology Energy Transition/Climate & Sustainability Carbon Management/Decarbonization Start-ups

Malta's proprietary pumped thermal energy storage brings high-efficiency, synchronous energy storage to the grid as a near like-for-like replacement of CO2-heavy generation. The innovative molten-salt-based closed-cycle system combines deep experience from the CSP industry with proven industry partners to deliver a de-risked, life-cycle-cost leading, robust supply chain-based long-duration energy storage system. With grid characteristics and operations and maintenance (O&M) like retiring coal and gas assets, the Malta utility-scale solution is uniquely positioned to fill the fossil gap and be the bridge between short-duration and emerging, low-efficiency seasonal storage solutions.
