Gustavo Baquero is the Senior Vice President of Exploration and Production International, responsible for strategy and commercial development at Equinor. He is an energy professional with over 20-years of international experience having worked in Norway, Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia, Italy, Spain, and the UK. Before heading up international strategy and commercial development, Baquero worked in various senior roles in business development as well as operations. Before joining Equinor, Baquero held multiple roles as a process engineer, analysts, commercial manager, and partner operations director at BP, Repsol, and ExxonMobil. His core expertise is in strategy, business development, and field operations. He holds a BSc in industrial engineering, an MBA from the Instituto de Empresa (Madrid), and diploma in negotiations from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.

However, there is uncertainty if these resources will reach their full potential and how gas will compete against alternative energy sources in the medium to long term.
