Vice Chairman

Ambassador Boris Ruge has been Vice-Chairman of the Munich Security Conference since 2019. He previously served as Director Middle East/North Africa at the Foreign Office in Berlin, as German Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, and as Deputy Ambassador to the US. Much of his career has been focused on security policy, including service at NATO HQ. Ruge did his graduate work at the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill) and the Bologna Center of Johns Hopkins University. He was a participant in the 2005 course of the Royal College of Defence Studies (London).
