Andrew Critchlow has 22 years of experience as a journalist covering energy and commodities. As Head of News in Europe, the Middle East and Africa for S&P Global Platts, Andrew runs a team of reporters and editors in the region covering all aspects of the commodities industry from OPEC to LNG supply, metals, energy transition and energy security. Prior to joining Platts he was Middle East editor for Reuters Breakingviews. He has held senior editorial positions at The Wall Street Journal, The Daily Telegraph in the UK and for Bloomberg News based in the Gulf. As a journalist he covered the invasion of Iraq in 2003 and reconstruction based in Baghdad. He was also bureau chief for WSJ in Australia, leading coverage of the country’s mining and LNG boom. A former Grenadier Guard, Andy is a graduate of Durham University where he read a Masters in Middle East Politics and Arabic.
