Deputy Chairman of the Management Board for Geology and Exploration

Kurmangazy Iskaziyev is the Chief Executive Officer, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board, Exploration, Production and Oilfield Services at National Company KazMunayGas (NC KMG), a state-owned oil and gas company of Kazakhstan. Beginning in the early nineties, Mr. Iskaziyev pursued a career in geology. Between 1995 and 2004, he worked as Chief Geologist/Deputy Director at the Atyrau Production Enhancement and Wells Overhaul Office; and Director of Geology and Oil Deposits Development at Embamunaigas OJSC. He was promoted to Director of Geology and Deposits Development at KazMunaiGas Exploration and Production JSC and eventually assumed additional leadership roles, including Executive Director of Oil and Gas Production; Managing Director of Geology, Geophysics, and Reservoirs; Managing Director for Non-Operating Assets (Tengiz, Kashagan, and Karachaganak); and Managing Director of Geology at JSC NC KazMunayGas. Mr. Iskaziyev graduated from the Oil Faculty of Kazakh Polytechnic Institute as a mining and geotechnical engineer. He holds a PhD in geology and mineralogy from the Tomsk Polytechnic University and is a professor on the faculty of the Russian State Oil and Gas University. Mr. Iskaziyev was awarded the Kurmet Order in honor of the 20-Year independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

    Russia and other key Eurasian oil producers have renewed their agreement to remain part of the Vienna Alliance, to cut their production to help rebalance to the global oil market as it has swung from oversupply to undersupply, and back to oversupply. This session covers the goals the participants hope to achieve and mechanisms for implementing the cuts. It also will look at the duration and staying power of the arrangement.
