Rich Sorkin is the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Jupiter Intelligence, which helps governments, corporations, and society manage climate-related risk. Led by Fortune 100 company veterans, machine-learning pioneers, a Nobel Prize winner, and scientists from NOAA and the NSF, the firm provides services to predict weather risks from one hour to over 50 years into the future. In his three-decade-long career as an entrepreneur, executive, and board member, Mr. Sorkin has led several breakthrough-technology companies, concentrating on financial services, energy, media, politics, and the environment. His prior companies pioneered using satellite data and scalable cloud computing to predict weather events and applying analytics to detect identity theft. He began his career at Bain & Company and helped initiate research of supercomputers at Goldman Sachs. Before starting Jupiter, Mr. Sorkin was President of Kaggle, Chief Executive Officer of Zip2, and ran Creative Labs’ Sound Blaster business during the time it gained market dominance. He is the special advisor to Data Collective Venture Capital for space, weather, risk, and intelligence; Chair of Kairos Aerospace’s advisory board; and advisor to Capella Space. Mr. Sorkin is a Yale University and Stanford Business School graduate.
