David Miller

A sought-after investor and advisor for companies at the intersection of technology and sustainability, David Miller brings over twenty years of technology startup management experience and over eighteen years of seed stage investing experience to Clean Energy Ventures (CEV) as a founding partner. Previously, David was Executive Managing Director of the Clean Energy Venture Group (CEVG). Prior to that, he was a Director in the New Ventures Group at Lucent Technologies. David has been on the board of directors or advisory boards of several clean energy companies, including Boston Materials, Pika Energy, MyEnergy, Azima DLI and Cambrian Innovation, and has mentored many others. He also has an appointment as Research Affiliate at MIT’s Sloan School of Management and previously taught electrical engineering at Rutgers University.

David received his B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science and Engineering from MIT and completed his doctorate at MIT’s Lab for Energy and the environment, where he studied the utilization and commercialization of distributed generation and energy efficiency measures. His dissertation examined the impact of a variety of management and investment strategies and public policy initiatives on the success of new clean energy ventures.
