Secretary of Energy

Rick Perry currently serves as the 14th US Secretary of Energy, and leads an agency tasked with overseeing the United States’ energy supply, nuclear defense capacity, and the 17 National Laboratories, home to many of the country’s best scientists. Prior to joining the Administration as Secretary of Energy, Mr. Perry served as the 47th governor of Texas, where he championed conservative principles that helped Texas become one of America’s economic engines. Governor Rick Perry is a veteran of the US Air Force, having flown C-130 tactical airlift aircraft in Europe and the Middle East. He is deeply involved with supporting the active duty and veteran community, both as Governor and now as Secretary of Energy. Mr. Perry earned distinction early in his life as an Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in the Boy Scouts of America. He was one of the first in his family to go to college, earning a degree in animal science from Texas A&M University, where he was a member of the student military club Corps of Cadets and an Aggie Yell Leader who led yells by university students and fans during school events. He is a lifetime member of both the National Rifle Association and American Legion Post #75.
