Andrew Ellis, Executive Director, Global Energy Analytics, IHS Markit, is an experienced energy economist with 30 years of consulting, model development, and research within the European and international energy markets. As head of the IHS Markit Global Energy Analytics Group, Mr. Ellis is responsible for applied energy modelling, including the Global Energy Scenarios projections, the energy-economy-environment outlook models, and research on the energy-economy interface. He has led numerous consulting projects for IHS Markit, working with energy companies, utilities, government organizations, and financial organizations. Recent projects include a global energy and gas modelling exercise for an international organization, development of a global energy model for a major national oil company, development of a global energy scenario consistent with a 2-degree outlook for various clients, and a model of the impact of the Paris Agreement and the NDCs pledges. Prior to its acquisition by IHS in 2008, Mr. Ellis led Global Insight’s European energy consulting and retainer services. He was a Partner and Director of Gas Analysis and Business Development (Energy) at the Norwegian consulting firm ECON from 2001 to 2006. Mr. Ellis holds a BA (Hons) from Nottingham University, United Kingdom, and an MSc from Imperial College, London.
