Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Hugh co-founded Factor Technology in 2017 to commercialize the first comprehensive algorithm for computed geosteering, which he published in a Geophysics article that year. Factor has won awards at the Rice Alliance Energy Technology Venture Forum and at the SPE Startup Competition, and is leading the drilling industry to extend automation to geologic decision making. Prior to founding Factor, he had served as Director of Research at DrillingInfo. Earlier, he founded and led Wellstorm Development, a maker of real-time drilling data software, which DrillingInfo acquired in 2012. He began his career as a Schlumberger Field Engineer in the Gulf of Mexico, and has served in geophysics and software engineering roles at Parallel Geoscience, Geographix, Landmark, and Bison Instruments. He has a B.S. from Georgia Tech in applied physics and an M.A. from University of Texas at Austin in geophysics.
