Rob Smith is a Director in IHS Markit’s Refining and Marketing group. He manages the group’s global fuel retail team. Mr. Smith is an expert on crude and refined product markets, retail analysis, and downstream competitive benchmarking. He is also knowledgeable on a variety of other related topics, including new vehicle technology, biofuels, and midstream infrastructure. Mr. Smith previously was a Senior Manager at PFC Energy, which was acquired by IHS Markit in 2013. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Duke University and a Master’s degree from Georgetown University.

However, there is renewed interest in “reintegration” and securing demand—notable in emerging and pre-emerging markets—for a future where demand plateaus.
