Blake Eskew, Vice President, Oil Markets, Midstream, Downstream and Chemicals, joined IHS Markit in November 2011 with the acquisition of Purvin & Gertz, Inc. (PGI), a leading global downstream energy consulting company, where he served as Executive Vice President and Director. Mr. Eskew’s experience has focused on energy market analysis, consulting assignments, and research. In consulting, he has provided commercial and technical assistance to clients worldwide in business strategy, project development, acquisition support, competitive analysis, crude oil/refined product economics, and market development. In research, he directed PGI’s long-term energy price and refining economics services, managed PGI’s ongoing analysis of North American crude oil supply and distribution, and currently contributes to IHS Markit research products. He has worked throughout the midstream and downstream industries, from crude oil gathering through specialty product marketing, with experience in crude oil, natural gas, refined products, lubricants and base oils, and basic petrochemicals. His projects range from analysis of local refined product supply and demand for a US Midwestern pipeline to a comprehensive linear program analysis of the world refining industry. Prior to joining PGI in 1989, Mr. Eskew worked in a number of planning, economics, and technical positions with Conoco Inc., and the Ethyl Corporation. He holds a BS from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from Columbia University.
