Director, Global Energy Scenarios

Richard C. Vidal, Director, Global Energy Scenarios, IHS Markit, is a specialist in international energy markets and manages the IHS Markit Global Energy Scenarios service. Mr. Vidal is a principal thought leader in the creation of the IHS Markit scenarios and leads the ongoing coordination across IHS Markit research teams to continually update the scenario outlooks and to help inform IHS Markit clients of the broad range of dynamics driving the global energy business. These include trends in geopolitics and economics, energy technology development, and environmental trends, as well as energy market fundamentals. Prior to joining IHS Markit through its acquisition of Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA), Mr. Vidal worked for CERA’s Global Power Forum, where he directed the company’s compilation of global power investment activity and competitive intelligence. Prior to that, Mr. Vidal worked with Sandia National Laboratories, performing comparative studies of international energy policies and technology programs. Mr. Vidal holds a BA from Boston University and an MA from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
