Director and President of CNPC, Vice Chairman of PetroChina
Hou Qijun is Executive Director and Vice President of PetroChina Company Limited, and concurrently serves as the Deputy General Manager of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), an integrated international energy company. He has nearly 30 years of experience working in China’s oil and gas industry. Mr. Hou was appointed Vice President of CNPC in 2017, in charge of oil and gas exploration and development in China and abroad, overseas business, and CNPC foreign affairs. This followed an earlier appointment, in 2013, when he became Director General of Planning Department of both CNPC and PetroChina. Previous appointments include Director General of PetroChina Oil & Gas Pipeline Control Center (March 2012); Vice President of PetroChina Natural Gas & Pipeline Company (September 2011) and, concurrently, President of PetroChina Natural Gas Marketing Company (starting in November 2011). Prior to joining PetroChina, he was appointed President of Jilin Oilfield Company in October 2004 and concurrently served as President of Jilin Petroleum Group as of July 2007. These leadership positions began in October 2002 when Mr. Hou became Vice President of Daqing Oilfield Company.
