Dr. Babak Shafei is the founder and CEO of AquaNRG, an environmental and energy tech company headquartered in Houston, Texas. AquaNRG offers industry-leading data-driven and physics-chemistry software platforms and hardware infrastructure for environmental and energy companies to perform cloud-based high-performance computing and engineering simulations. AquaNRG has been awarded 3 grants from the US Department of Energy and National Science Foundation totaling up to $1.4M in funding. Dr. Babak Shafei has more than 15 years of experience consulting major E&P companies in the US and Europe to optimize energy production in conventional and unconventional assets. He has helped the largest nuclear waste management companies in Europe and Asia to design safe deep geological repositories. He has advised mining and energy companies in South America and Europe to implement efficient water treatment and CCS strategies. He has collaborated with World Bank on a $70M solid waste management project in Middle East. He has acquired a Doctorate degree from Georgia Tech where his Ph.D. thesis received Research Excellence Award.He is the recipient of prestigious Marie Currie fellowship from the European Commission.He is the author of numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and served as a keynote speaker and chairman of international conferences.
