Nikos Tsafos

Nikos Tsafos is a senior fellow with the Energy Security and Climate Change Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). His research interests include natural gas, the geopolitics of energy, the future of mobility, and the energy transition more broadly. Nikos has advised companies and governments in over 30 countries on some of the world’s most complex energy projects, and he has written and spoken extensively about natural gas, energy and economics. Nikos led PFC Energy's (now IHS Markit) global gas consulting practice and was responsible for the firm's research agenda on global gas. He then spent 3.5 years as a commercial adviser to the Alaska State Legislature, focused largely on the $43 billion Alaska liquefied natural gas project. He was also an adjunct lecturer for four years at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), where he taught a graduate-level course on natural gas. He holds a B.A. in international relations and economics, with a minor in statistics, from Boston University, and an M.A. in international relations from Johns Hopkins SAIS.
